August 6, Hiroshima Day

We all know that Hiroshima day is observed on August 6 every year. The day is not a day of celebration, it is a day of remembrance. On this day in 1945, the then president of USA Harry S Trumanl took a decision to drop the first atomic bomb coded little boy on Hiroshima in Japan. A decision which annihilated thousands of people , ironically in the name of saving thousands of lives from unending war. An atomic bomb was dropped on Japanese city of Hiroshima, followed by another atomic bomb on the city of Nagasaki. It is the only instance in human history where a nation used a nuclear weapon against another nation.

The bombing effectively ended World War second by bringing about surrender of Japan, but at a terrible price . The city was destroyed, mostly civilian, were estimated at around 2 Lac with many more people dying later from injuries and illness. The bomb destroyed 70% of building in Hiroshima and generations suffered due to the effect of Radiation. The incident shocked the world and brought into light the terrible after effect of nuclear warfare. Anti war movements and nuclear disarmament movement strengthened around the world. The collective vision, dedication and hard work of Japanese people powered Japan to rise from rubble and today Japan is world third largest economy.

so Hiroshima day aims to promote peace, politics and against war . The risk of accidental or international use of nuclear weapon remains significant. We must raise our voice for peace and fraternity, because there is not beauty in war, but only destruction of the nation.
