FOOD RAINBOW


Eating a diversity of colorful food can be an easy way to get a complete range of vitamins and minerals in your body need to thrive. The advice to “eat the rainbow” is often used with kids. The kids specially need a diversity of food in their diets, so do adults. Each color in fruits and vegetables is caused by specific phytonutrients, which are natural chemicals that protect plants from harmful radiations and others threats. Each colour in fruits and vegetables indicates an abundance of specific nutrients.




RED

  • Red fruits and vegetables contain phytochemicals, which has cancer fighting effects and other health benefits.

  • Getting your phytonutrients from whole food is best as it is beneficial because it reduces the risk of cancer.


ORANGE AND YELLOW

  • Orange and yellow fruits and vegetables are rich in carotenoids and vitamin C.

  • In your body, carotenoids are sometime noted to be converted into vitamin A, which promote healthy vision and cell growth.

  • Consuming citrus fruits also reduces the risk of stroke.


GREEN

  • Green fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamin K, lutein, isothiocyanates.

  • This fruits and vegetables are considered as one of the healthiest foods we can eat.

  • They enhance immune function and also essential for blood and bone health.


BLUE AND PURPLE

  • Blue and purple vegetables and fruits are rich in anthocyanins and resveratrol, which has anti-cancer and anti-ageing properties.

  • They are also bio-active to repair damage from oxidative.


WHITE AND BROWN

  • Though white and brown are not brightly colored food, but they still are considered as a healthiest food.

  • They are rich in anti-cancer compound. Some of the vegetables have been found to inhabit aromatase activity.
