Letter Writing Competition

The ability to write a good and effective letters can be as useful as the ability to talk well and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships. Letter writing is an important channel of communication between people who are geographically distant from one another. It is an essential skill that has to be developed. Everyone has to write letters at some point. Letters of complaint, job applications, thank you letters, letters requesting changes or making suggestions — the list goes on and on. Encouraging learners to write letters from an early age will improve their communication, social and handwriting skills, and teach them what they need to know about writing and structuring letters.

To inculcate the talent of writing, a Letter Writing Competition was organized in GISK for classes I to XII. The aim of this competition was to encourage the young learners to write letters from an early age and thus improve their communication, social and handwriting skills and to teach them what they need to know about writing and structuring both formal and informal letters. All learners actively and enthusiastically participated in this competition. They were more than eager to put down their thoughts and feelings in the form of a letter to convey their messages to their friends, relatives or others. Their letters were judged on the basis of criteria- format, content and expression.

The learners took the artistic route to appreciate the importance of letter writing in everyday life. They developed their skills in composition and expression of thoughts. All in all it was a fun filled activity.
