National Sports Day


National Sports Day is celebrated every year in India on August 29 since 2012 to commemorate the birth anniversary of hockey legend Dhyan Chand, who won gold medals in Olympics for India in 1928, 1932 and 1936. Major Dhyanchand was a part of the Indian Hockey Team and also a legendary figure in the Indian and world hockey. The Main aim to celebrate National Sports Day is to raise awareness about Sports and daily activities in every individual’s life.

It is widely celebrated at national level and every year it is held in the Rashtrapati Bhavan. This Year due to COVID Pandemicthe Celebration of National SportsDay 2021 took place virtually.


Gajera International School Katargam National Sports Day Celebration

Celebrating National Sports Day emphasizes the overall importance of sports and encourages mass to realize that sports activities are necessary to keep their bodies healthy. On this day we honored the legends from various sports and celebrated the current and emerging sporting icons through an inspirational message from our respected principal Mrs. Sonia Budhiraja, followed by a symbol of continuity between ancient and modern games by ‘Marshal Run which was an event to pay homage to our late champions and the torch symbolized carrying forward their spirit to the future citizens gradually lighting the torch by our honored guest Mr.Bhavesh Gelani, Dr. Gulab Vasani, sports vice principal Kailash Chaudhari and Mr. Rajendra Bhalavala. The oath taking ceremony was the next event by sports educators and a well-synchronized dance by our learners captured the attention of our audience and kept them enthralled.

Grade 9 to 12 learners had a great time participating in all the games. They competed in 4 Games Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and Tug ofWar which was for Boys as well as Girls.





At the end it was a memorable day, where all the participants and winners have received an appreciation by our Respected Principal madam.
