National Sports Day

“Champions keep playing until they get it right”. Gajera International School Katargam, Surat celebrates National Sports Day every year on 29th August which also marks the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand who won the gold medal in the Olympics for India. The main aim of celebrating National Sports Day is to raise awareness about the importance of sports and daily activities in every individual life.

At GISK, the celebration of National Sports Day emphasized the overall importance of sports and encouraged the learners to realize that sports activities are needed for healthy living. The Chief guests along with the learners honoured the legends from various sports and celebrated the current and emerging sporting icons. Various games were organized in School Campus such as gymnastics, basketball, volleyball and chess. The learners exhibited their sportsmanship and team spirit. Our honourable guest Niraj Sharma, a national player, graced the basketball ground with presence. For gymnastics we had Mr. Kanu Rathod as a chief guest. Mr.Nishrut Patel and Anilbhai Gamit national players of Volleyball, encouraged the learners with their presence and motivated them by giving a valuable speech.

The idiom “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy” holds true even for the young learners. The matches were conducted with sportsman spirit. Overall it was a great event.
