Vaccination- Need of an hour
The pandemic has been one of the greatest health crises in recorded history. The introduction of COVID-19 vaccine is a major step towards reducing the spread of the pandemic and further reducing the associated disease and deaths. The COVID-19 vaccine introduction is the world's largest vaccination drive and roll out requires planning at various levels. Major vaccination efforts are currently underway to immunize the world's population. PM Modi had, on Christmas night, announced lowering of India's vaccination age from 18 to 15 years. Vaccinating children and adolescents may also help advance other highly valued societal goals. Maintaining education for all school-aged children should be an important priority during this pandemic.

In GISK, with the kind support of the Gajera Trust, Vaccination drive commenced with online registration on 4th January, 2022. The learners of grade X, XI, XII have successfully been vaccinated. Vaccination sessions are held keeping in mind COVID-19 transmission and protective measures from 9 a.m. onwards. The health team form SMC is very supportive and efficient.

Reducing intergenerational transmission is an important additional public health objective of GISK when vaccinating children and adolescents. We appreciate the support given to us by parents for giving consent towards healthy youth of today.
