World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

The World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought is observed every year to promote public awareness of international efforts to combat desertification. The day is a unique moment to remind everyone that land degradation neutrally is achievable through problem-solving, strong community involvement and co-operation at all levels. The history behind this day began in December 1994 at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to combat desertification and drought.

Every year the day is observed on June 17th to let people know that desertification and drought can be effectively tackled and solutions are possible.

This year Gajera International School - Katargam had organized various events including Talk Show with Save Soil Volunteers, Poster Making with creative Slogan Writing competition and other interactive sessions to bring awareness in the society.

Mr. Rohan Agrawal also had a LIVE Interaction session with the learners wherein he shared his views and showed relevant videos to students to combat desertification and drought .
